Alex's Notes

Knowing how much I love cross country exploration, the amazing Barbara Buryiak has been suggesting I do a Lincoln Highway program since its 100th Year Anniversary in 2013. In fact, she even bought me a book on the subject. Barbara has given our Travel 'Ohana the ultimate experience on both our "Route 66,” “Across Northern US” and the First Half of our Lincoln Highway program - “America's Heartland.” Her personality, stories, costumes and extras help make the itinerary come alive.

The CREATION
Towards the end of the first half of our Lincoln Highway exploration—America' Heartland, Barbara and I, with the help of our driver Jon, started laying the foundation for the second half. It was obvious there was a lot less of the Lincoln Highway left on the western side, so we put a few ideas to a vote with our members onboard. And well the journey's name—National Parks, tells the result.

It's always amazing to work with Barbara. She is so knowledgeable and understands our 'Ohana. It just happened she's been doing more National Parks journeys in the past two years.

With Shannon Connolly applying the final details and putting it into operation, our trip has all the variety and uniqueness we have come to love. Shannon is responsible for both our “Across Southern US,” “Across Northern US,” “America's Heartland” and all our Globus Custom South America programs. Like Barbara, Shannon knows us very well.

Special EXPERIENCES
On top of the National Parks and Monuments visits, this itinerary features many special experiences including: the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a naturally form acoustically perfect spot which hosted many famous performers; the Wyoming State Museum representing life in Wyoming from the prehistoric time to the present; hearing stories about the legendary Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane on our guided Deadwood Visit; Exploring the Best and Belcher Ponderosa Mine with over 300 pieces of antique mining equipment; learning about the history and savor some amazing views on our narrated Lake Tahoe Cruise.

A Variety of UNIQUENESS
There is something for everyone with our variety of uniqueness with: a custom-built locomotive ride on a fun-filled Bison Train Tour; a guided stroll through the Historic East Ely Trainyard, part of the Nevada Northern Railway; an opened-air tram ride on Yosemite's Valley Floor; and the architectural oddities of the Winchester Mystery House and the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts in western North America at the Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose (because of Dominique, Alex has first-hand knowledge on both of these).

And the LINCOLN HIGHWAY
Of course, there are the Lincoln Highway highlights like: the Lincoln Monument near Laramie Wyoming; the Henry B. Joy Monument, first President of the Lincoln Highway Association; the “Loneliest Road in America”—originally the Pony Express Route and later Lincoln Highway, and the Western Most Terminus of the Lincoln Highway.

Two nights longer and $100 less expensive than last years' “America's Heartland,” it's an affordable Cosmos itinerary which will leave us with a deeper appreciation of our country and its many natural and manmade treasures.

Once again with the help of friends like Shannon and Barbara, at the Globus Family, we are able to carry on the Dold Family Tradition of Value, Service and Making Travel Dreams Come True.
