Alex's Notes

This unique program is the second half of Todd Ney's personal vacation. The first half was January’s “Guatemala, Honduras, & Belize” Adventure. Todd is my travel guru, whose advice I seek every year for over a decade. He has designed a great number of our custom programs, like “Indonesia & Malaysia,” “Panama & Colombia,” and “Peru, Bolivia & Chile.”

While “Part I” was full of Mystery and Ancient Exploration, “Part II” is a fabulous blend of Spectacular Nature and Colonial Discovery. The Travel Ohana should knows by know how much I love visiting a destination before ultimate tourism kicks in – Cuba, Myanmar, and now, Nicaragua (I think I get that from my mom’s side).

We do more than see Nature, We Live It! Stroll in a Rainforest, wander in a Cloud forest, visit a forest at night (even through a lava tube at night), cross along a Skywalk; overnight in a Biosphere; float down the Penas Blancas River; and more. All guided by Naturalists who love to share environmental stories and point out the unique species of the wild. Add to this the personal side like spending time with local farmers and taking in a children’s school performance for a more meaningful experience.

Then Discover Nicaragua! The once-troubled country is now safer and more accessible than ever. Nicaragua has invested heavily in a travel-friendly infrastructure while keeping its local charm intact. We spend time in Colonial Granada aka the "Paris of Central America" with its outdoor cafes, small galleries, museums, and souvenir hawkers; explore Leon Viejo (UNESCO) whose ruins are a remarkable testimony to 16th Century Spanish influence; view, in Leon, the largest Cathedral (UNESCO) in Central America; and savor metropolitan Managua. Of course, culture is part of our program, with a Nicaraguan Chocolate Bar Workshop, a visit to the Flor De Cana Rum Factory and time to mingle with gifted crafters at Los Pueblos Blancos.

Once again, Mahalo to the amazing Kim Vincent, Globus Family's Product Development Manager for Latin America, for using her magic to put it all together. She continues to extend the Dold Tradition of Value, as this First Class Globus program includes full days of sightseeing, special features, unique hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, plus five lunches while touring. Being a custom program, there are no optional excursions, so basically you only need money for drinks and shopping. Nothing like exploring the World in style.
